ABOUT LOU
My name is Lou. I have worked in Early Years in various roles including management for over 20 years. I am currently a Pre-school Practitioner and also the Wellbeing Coordinator for the setting.
I have a daughter who I adore and as she grew up I found parenting relatively straight forward, having had so much experience working with children and knowing the different stages of development I felt I could navigate through any hiccups along the way. This was until my daughter showed some mental health struggles, in her case severe separation anxiety. Suddenly I couldn’t help her. As time went on and her anxiety got worse I reached out to the school but their resources fell short and there just wasn’t the support she needed. I felt so alone and very helpless. The NHS were overwhelmed and the waiting lists were too long. I knew I didn’t want her in an office type space with someone who sat across from her asking her why she felt the way she did. After a lot of research I found a wonderful lady who helped my daughter through being creative and doing other fun, engaging activities, all around mental health. The result was mind blowing for me.

This all led to my interest and enthusiasm for young people's mental health and wellbeing. I came across a training provider, Dandelion Training, and got in contact. I knew that this would push me out of my comfort zone but I was determined to do it. Now fully qualified, insured and accredited with ACCPH it is my time to support young people with their mental health.
Unfortunately children are struggling more than ever with 1 in 6 having mental health challenges. That is 5 in every classroom! I would like to use my expertise and knowledge and allow these children a safe, comfortable space to express themselves and work together to give them a brighter future.

FUN FACTS
I love football and have done so from a young age. I spent much of my teenage years into my twenties watching Chelsea FC, Crawley FC and England games with my dad.
I am obsessed with the sky! Especially rainbows and sunsets. The brain on my logo for Radiant Minds is inspired by a sunset-pink to orange.
I am a great friend. My friends would describe me as honest, caring, loyal, understanding, non judgemental, thoughtful, compassionate and devoted. (Their words, I asked them!)
I am a cat lover. I love big cats - lions, tigers, leopards and also have my own cat called Sonny.
My favourite thing to do is spend time with my family and friends, BBQ in the summer months or go down to the beach.
