FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcome to the Radiant Minds Coaching Frequently Asked Questions section, where we address common inquiries about our services.  As you navigate your child's mental health journey, we understand the importance of clarity and support. In the information below, we aim to provide insight into our approach, scheduling, and what sets us apart.  If you have further questions or information don't hesitate to reach out to Lou.

   Where is Radiant Minds based?

Radiant Minds Coaching is based in Copthorne Village, West Sussex. 5 mins from Crawley or just off Junction 10 of the M23.

   What happens in a session?

Our sessions are designed to be engaging and tailored specifically to each child's needs. Lasting 50 minutes, they provide a dedicated space for children and teens to explore their emotions and build essential coping skills.

During the first session, our focus is on building rapport and understanding the young person's unique needs. We kick things off with a fun game of Connect 4 or Dobble, creating a relaxed atmosphere where children feel comfortable opening up. No lectures here – everything happens on large sheets of paper, making it a far cry from a typical classroom setting.

Each session is child-centred, meaning no two are exactly alike. We adapt activities to address different aspects of mental health based on what the child requires.  At the heart of our approach is goal-setting. During the session, the child identifies a goal they'd like to work on. In subsequent sessions, we revisit this goal, assessing progress and adjusting as needed. Whether it's building confidence, managing stress, or improving communication skills, our sessions are tailored to support each child's journey.

For parents and caregivers, we understand the importance of feeling connected and informed. While they're welcome to stay for the initial 10 minutes to help their child settle in, they're also encouraged to relax in our lobby, wait in their car, or explore the nearby coffee shop just a minute away.

At our sessions, every child is seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

   What can I help with?

Anxiety, Grief, Depression, Emotional literacy (understanding feelings and emotions), School Avoidance, Separation Anxiety, Exams, Self esteem, Confidence, Regulation, Worry, Stress, Anger, Boundaries, Behaviour and other wellbeing issues.

What can I NOT help with?

While I'm dedicated to providing support and guidance to children and teens facing various mental health challenges, there are certain conditions that require specialised expertise beyond my scope of practice. These include eating disorders, OCD, and personality disorders such as schizophrenia. If your child is dealing with any of these conditions, I encourage you to seek out professionals who specialise in these areas to ensure you receive the most comprehensive care and support possible. Your child's well-being is paramount, and it's essential to connect with the right resources for their specific needs.

   What is the space like?

I feel incredibly fortunate to have discovered the perfect space for my coaching practice. Nestled within a serene yoga studio, our sessions are imbued with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, fostering a sense of calm and connection.

Equipped with a variety of creative and engaging activities, our space is designed to inspire growth and exploration. From interactive exercises to thoughtful discussions, every session is tailored to ignite curiosity and develop personal development.

For those arriving by car, ample parking ensures a stress-free experience from start to finish.

   How do I book sessions?

You can book by emailing me lou@radiantmindscoaching.co.uk or WhatsApp message or call me on 07762 473812 to start a conversation with a brief outline of why you are needing support. If I can help and you would like to go ahead I can then send you the information pack with policies and procedures for you to sign. We can then get your child booked in and ready to start! Payments are taken in advance once we have agreed a date for starting via Bank transfer.

How many sessions will I need to book?

It is advisable to initially book a block of 6 weekly sessions. This allows us the continuity and time to get as much support in place giving your child tools and goals to make a difference. I currently have an offer of book 6 sessions for the price of 5. You are more than welcome to book less sessions though and see how your child goes. You may find after the initial block of 6 you want to book another block or just have ad hoc sessions as and when your child needs them. A block of 6 sessions must be used within 6 months.

What days do I offer sessions?

I currently offer coaching sessions on Tuesday and Thursday after school times. I will be adding another day soon but if these do not suit your needs please still contact me as I may be able to find a day/time that suits you. In the school holidays I will offer the sessions in the mornings opposed to after school times.

   Can I cancel sessions?

You can cancel or reschedule your appointment as long as you have given me 72 hours notice. Otherwise you will be charged in full with no refund being issued. If I have to cancel a session and you do not want to reschedule to another time then a full refund will be given.
